Reflexology is an alternative, non-invasive therapy that seeks to assist the body in finding and maintaining homeostatis (a state of well-being). It is mainly used for it's relaxation techniques but can also be used to stimulate and invigorate the body as is done in most eastern cultures.

It has been proven to be beneficial with pain relief, stress management, detoxing, increase circulation, weight loss, improve the health of the body.
Reflexology improves nerve and blood supply, and helps nature to normalize. A reflexology treatment has very relaxing and therapeutic effects. It can aid in helping the body to detox, relax, alleviate muscular pain/ soreness, headaches, arthritic pain, relieve stress and anxiety. In addition, a variety of stretches can be beneficial. With pain and sensitivity in the foot, heel and calf areas, be sure to communicate your pain levels with your massage therapist during your treatment. It is also a good idea to rest after receiving the reflexology massage.

What to expect during a reflexology treatment:
Your reflexologist may ask you some questions pertaining to your medical background / daily habits.
She/ He may give you a foot soak.
You will be asked to either lie down or sit in a reclined position.
She/He will then proceed to perform massage techniques on the feet and /or legs and /or hands and/or head.
The session will usually last between 30 - 60 minutes.
Once complete you may be offered a drink of water / juice.

Things to note:

It's good to wear loose clothing.
Clients have been known to feel drowsy after a session, so schedule to have 2-3 hours free after.
Drink plenty of water during the next 24 hours after the session.
Reflexology has been proven to provide benefits when used frequently.
Reflexology is not to be used to replace medical care, but seeks to complement it.
